The Flxible Clipper Handbook

Chassis Electrical

Sorting out the chassis wiring on your newly-acquired Clipper may at first appear daunting. However, if the wiring is in good condition - ie no peeling insulation, corroded terminals, etc., your only problem will be that the colour-coding will by now be unrecognizable. Identifying the terminal board numbers is the first step in getting control of the situation - making a drawing or two showing the numbers as identified in the diagrams is an important first step.

A test buzzer of lamp is a big help, energizing a wire at one end of the coach with the buzzer connected at the other will aid greatly in figuring out which wire goes where. As the diagram shows, pretty well all the connections to the rear devices - engine parts, rear lights, etc. - connect through the rear terminal board. Their front counterpart connections will be to the front board - behind the louvered door at floor level at the top of the stair well, to the light or instrument in the instrument panel, or to one or another of the switches in the switch panel under the driver's side window. There is a also a very heavy and unfused cable to the main busbar on this panel. All these are shown in the diagram. Your connections will likely have been "adjusted" to some degree by previous owner(s), but the diagrams here should go a long way toward helping you get organized.

Protective Devices

All conductors should be protected by a fuse or circuit breaker.
