"My mom has a 1966 Flxible bus for sale. Originally purchased as a
motor home, she was reportedly used to cart around Brenda
Lee and her band during their tours. My parents bought it in 1987
and have taken many short trips with it and one long cross country
tour. The speedometer is missing but in the 20 years that we've owned
it, we haven't driven more than 10,000 miles in it. That's not
verifiable in any way other than to tell you that.
It is converted and includes two dinette/bed conversions, fridge,
toilet and sink, freshwater holding tank, standard queen bed in
back, entertainment center behind driver and TV antenna. It has
had its brake lines recently replaced along with an engine fan
and a new emergency brake installed."

"It has a Detroit Diesel with 5-speed (Spicer) gearbox.
The tires are in good shape and the bus is resting comfortably
in my mom's backyard.
Although she is reluctant to sell it, she feels
the need to do so since my dad passed away a couple of years ago
and she knows she's never going to go on trips alone in it. The
paint needs help. One of the panels on the storage container on
the lower side has a little rust. The chassis has little to no
rust. The windows are all tinted except for the front windshield
and the glass is fine, except that the door window has a crack in
it and there is a spider hole in another passenger side window.
The interior is orange and very
functional. She still purrs down the road and is ready for wherever
you want to drive her. We are asking $14,000 for her. She will make
you happy!

Road Ready!
The latest from Kat:
"My mom has a diesel mechanic friend of hers drive it a few miles every
week, including this week, to make sure it's running well. It's ready
for a trip to Phoenix or wherever...it's a sweet vehicle. Anyone
wanting to test drive it any day is welcome. It will start up on the
first try and go, go go! "
The Distaff Side
14 Apr '07: This 3rd-party report from an FOI member who has gone to see this unit:
"I have been to see the '66 Starliner in San Fernando. Mary, the
owner, was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about the bus. The bus
has been setting and needs a lot of interior work. Motor is a small 4
cyl diesel but it started right up and ran fine. I did not drive the
bus. Has several side windows broken and is in need of new paint. Rust
on both sides at bottom about center. Also around window on right side,
and small other areas. Hinge broken on rear engine hatch and no supports.
Could be a good start for the right price."
Obviously a bit of a "fixer-upper" at this stage, and not the deal for
this prospective buyer. But he was kind enough to share some
intelligence with the next one. Could this be the deal for you?
Contact Info - 22 May 07
The adventure continues! Kat's mom has moved to Colorado, and took
the Starliner with her. Here's Kat's story of the adventure, and the
new contact info:
'Hi...
I just wanted to let you know that we made it to Colorado safe and sound. We did upgrade the tires and put 4 brand new 9R20s on it (a $1600 value added in the price)...it could use 2 more...but as for the bus...not one hiccup...not one sputter. We took I-40 over Flagstaff, Arizona elevation 7500 feet and then again over The Raton pass at 7700 feet. I'm not saying we went up the hills at 65 mph....but we made it up the hills...fully loaded with moving boxes...and had a great time going back down. We averaged
about 60mph on the road...I only drove during the day because I wanted to be able to call for service if I needed to...but I didn't!!!
It's the first time I've ever driven her and I loved it. If I didn't have three small children and could dedicate some time to her, I wouldn't think of selling her. People stopped and asked to take pictures...some gave me thumbs up from their passing cars and others just stuck their digital cameras out of their windows and snapped pix. It was a fun ride...with lots of good attention...and she lots more miles on her to go. My dad always said there was nothing wrong with her and he was absolutely right. She's
an awesome ride!!!
So please change her location from the San Fernando Valley, Ca. to Fort Collins, Co...and the new contact number is 970-472-5578. Thanks again! I'm on a huge adrenaline rush from her...she's got heart!!!!
