A Project Starliner In Indiana
Here's a DYNAMITE opportunity for the right person! It's a "ribs-out" project yet to be finished. As the photos show, it's a rare "eyebrow" Starliner which was stripped down basically to the ribs, so that the framework could be completely inspected and refinished. A total repower, with V-8 diesel engine and Alllison transmission, is also in the final stages of completion. A lot of work yet to be done, but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Starliner project of the Century!
As can be seen from the pictures, extensive reconstruction is required, but the parts are reportedly all there, from skins to bumpers. Here is Mr. Guffey's description:
"I have the compartment doors , the side panels original and new panels new bumpers and new windshields I have a single car garage with the removed pieces stacked in it. I do not have the bus seats. I have the original drivers seat.
The Starliner was purchased from the college in 1972 and had according to the fellow I bought it from had 160k miles. He intended to convert it into a motor coach and started on repowering it and repairing any corrosion by replacing the affected panels. He rebuilt the brakes and replaced the wheel bearings. He purchased new aluminum wheels, a 6v53 remanufactured Detroit with 60 hours from a wrecked semi tractor and a zero hour allison. It also has been converted to power steering but needs the hydraulic lines finished. He had owned an earlier Flx conversion and towed his race cars with it and wanted a newer one and went shopping specifically for a eyebrow window starliner.
Asking Price is $16,500 for the complete package.
